Don’t Order This! Fast Food Workers Share the Items You Should Never Order.

    By Akhnaton Selbonne-Willie on May 10, 2024, updated May 10, 2024 - Leave a Comment

Buckle up as fast food workers spill the grease on what you should avoid on their menus. From unhygienic practices to unhealthy ingredients – these foods should never make it onto your plate or into your stomach, according to the people who have actually been the ones serving them up... Consider this a survival guide for navigating the ever-interesting world of fast food!

One Krispy Kreme worker shared, “Worked at Krispy Kreme for 2 years. Just so you know, the doughnuts are absolutely fresh – brought in twice a day. Don't order any of the Coffee Bean drinks, though – they never ever change the ice chest.” You know the drill: doughnuts from Krispy Kreme, then straight to a nearby Starbucks!

    Grits from Waffle House

One Waffle House cook shared, “If we are talking about health reasons... everything. There is nothing remotely healthy on the menu. Otherwise, I say grits because they can sit for hours and managers will try to keep them looking fresh even though they cost next to nothing to buy.” Are people really going to Waffle House to order grits?!

This person commented, “Meat Mountain. This is a sandwich with every type of meat we have in the store. If you wanna look it up, enable safe search.” The fact that we need to enable safe search to look it up tells us all we need to know.

Baked Cod at Long John Silver’s

A former worker at Long John Silver’s, the American seafood fast food chain, commented, “Baked cod on a bed of rice. We would microwave it in a paper dish.” This gives the saying, “There’s rice at home” a whole new meaning.

    Shrimps at Panda Express

Another former worker shared, “Used to work at Panda Express, no real complaints about the ingredients and food prep, but don't buy any shrimp entrees if you actually want a full meal. They purposely use a smaller serving spoon to make it appear you're getting a lot of food. I believe it was 6 shrimps per serving max was the policy.” Not Panda Express scrimping on the shrimp!

    Smoothies at Tropical Smoothie

A previous employee at Tropical Smoothie shared, “All of the smoothies, except the detox ones, have SO much sugar in them. You’re not being healthy by going there.” Why would they add more sugar when the fruits are already so sweet? They’re trying to get us hooked on the stuff.

    Burgers from Sheetz

This user commented on the same thread, “Burgers from Sheetz are microwaved. The grill marks are fake. Bacon is microwaved, too.” If that’s the case, they should start selling their stuff in supermarkets too! Just another way to maximise profits.

    Ice Capp at Tim Hortons

One former Tim Hortons worker shared, “I worked in several Tim Hortons as a teenager.. The Ice Capp machine never gets cleaned. Never ever.” At least it works, unlike McDonald’s ice cream machine.

    Bread Twists at Dominos

One user shared some helpful advice, “Dominos worker here. Nothing gross really that we do, but for the love of god stop ordering our bread twists. (Unless you want the cinnamon ones). You can order the Parmesan bread bites. It’s the same amount of dough in total for like 3 bucks cheaper.” We’re already planning on what we’re going to order next time with the extra three bucks!

    Mac and Cheese at Panera

A person shared the truth about the cafe chain’s staple, “The calorie count for the Mac and cheese is absurdly high. I don’t remember the exact number but do your body a favor and limit how many times you have it. There’s people who come in several times a week to order bread bowls of Mac and cheese who don’t realize how bad it is for you.”

No, not the mac and cheese! Why does the bad stuff always taste so good?

    Sauces at Chick-fil-A

    Exterior of a Chick-Fil-A restaurant.

A knowledgeable former worker warns, “the Avocado lime ranch and Cream salsa salad dressings are LOADED with calories, you're literally ruining all the good you're doing by ordering a salad when you pour on the Avocado lime ranch or Creamy salsa dressings (though they are really good). Another thing loaded with calories is the Chick-fil-A sauce. Each little packet has 140 calories!!! Polynesian has 110 calories per packet so be wary of that one too.”

On the topic of salads at fast-food restaurants, Wendy’s has the best. And yes, we’re willing to stand on that.

    Monkey-Style Burger at In-n-Out

An In-N-Out worker commented, “I worked at In-N-Out for a while. Don't order anything "monkey style". It doesn't exist.” One internet hoax had customers asking In-N-Out cashiers for ‘monkey-style’ burgers. Moral of the story: don’t believe everything you read on the Internet!
