Ingredient notes & substitutions
Watermelon can be sweet and delicious and full of flavor, or watery and boring - all depending on how ripe it is. Make sure to get a nice, ripe one for this recipe since it's the star of the show!
Fresh lime really is needed for this recipe, save the bottled one for another time.
Fresh mint leaves can be substituted for fresh basil leaves
Tips & tricks
If you don't have a high-powered blender, you can also use a food processor or a handheld immersion blender. Anything that will crush up that watermelon and mint!
If you don't have any type of mixer, you can also scoop the flesh of the watermelon into a strainer over a bowl, and then use a fork or spoon to mash the watermelon so that the juice trickles down into the bowl. Then pour this juice into the shaker with your mint and lime instead.
If you don't have a shaker you can add your ice cubes to the blender after blending, stir it with a spoon to allow the ice to cool down the drink, and then pour over a strainer into your martini glass
Want to add some alcohol? I recommend either vodka or light rum, added before shaking.
