Olive oil can be swapped for a neutral cooking oil like avocado oil, or even olive oil spray or cooking spray
Corn starch is added to make the fries extra crispy. It can be skipped, but the fries will then be less crispy.
Tips & tricks
Preheat the air fryer for best results
Cut the carrots thin for the crispiest fries
Cook in a single layer and cook in batches if you want to make more fries
Flip the fries halfway for an even cook
Soak up excess oil on a paper towel, for the crispiest fries
Adjust cook time depending on the size of the fries - you can make them thicker but then they will take longer to cook
Cook time can vary with different air fryers
Bake them in the oven on a lined baking sheet at 425°F (220°C) for 20 minutes, turning them halfway
Store any leftovers in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 4 days - but keep in mind they will loose their crisp
Freeze leftovers for up to 3 months
Reheat leftovers in the microwave in 30 secon increments, or in the air fryer for 3-5 minutes
Why are they soggy?
Your air fryer fries can come out soggy for multiple reasons:1. Thick fries - the thinner the fries, the crispier they will be 2. No corn starch - adding corn starch is needed to crisp up some veggies, like carrots 3. Too much oil - to avoid this, use only the amount stated and allow any excess oil to soak off after air frying 4. Low heat - you need to air fry these on a pretty high heat 5. Short cook time - some veggies, like carrots, will often be soft inside before they get crispy on the outside, you should still allow them to cook until crispy
