I love all kinds of fries and these air fryer carrot fries are no exception. They're a great way to add veggies to your meals - without you (or your kids...) even noticing.
While carrot fries will never be as crispy as traditional fries, due to the higher water content of carrots, these are as crispy as they will get. All thanks to one secret ingredient!

How to make them

- Add olive oil and mix until evenly coated
- Place in preheated air fryer basket and air fry for 12-14 minutes at 400°F (200°C), flipping them halfway
- Immediately place on a paper towel to allow any excess oil to soak up, for the crispiest carrot fries

- Store any leftovers in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 4 days - but keep in mind they will loose their crisp
- Freeze leftovers for up to 3 months
- Reheat leftovers in the microwave in 30 secon increments, or in the air fryer for 3-5 minutes
Recipe variations
- Make air fryer carrot chips by slicing carrots into thin rounds instead of fries
- Add cheese - either powdered cheese with the salt and corn starch, or sprinkle over fresh Parmesan cheese after cooking
- Change up the seasoning - some great options include Elote seasoning blend, fresh herbs, or spices such as paprika powder, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, cumin and black pepper
- Make them sweet by skipping the salt and mixing the corn starch with sugar and cinnamon instead
- Bake them in the oven on a lined baking sheet at 425°F (220°C) for 20 minutes, turning them halfway
Recipe FAQ
Your air fryer fries can come out soggy for multiple reasons:
1. Thick fries - the thinner the fries, the crispier they will be
2. No corn starch - corn starch is needed to crisp up some veggies, like carrots
3. Too much oil - to avoid this, use only the amount stated and allow any excess oil to soak off after air frying
4. Low heat - you need to air fry fries on a pretty high heat
5. Short cook time - some veggies, like carrots, will often be soft inside before they get crispy on the outside, you should still allow them to cook until crispy
If you don't use any oil or cooking spray your air fryer carrot fries will come out a bit more brown then golden, and a little bit dryer. They will still be tasty, so this is a good option if you want to avoid any oil.
