Notes
This recipe was tested in a Philips HD9252/90 Air Fryer and a Ninja DZ401 DualZone XL Air Fryer. Cooking time can vary with your air fryer model.
Additional seasonings can be added, for example, different herbs
Grated Parmesan cheese, especially the pre-grated kind in a can, can be added for the final 5 minutes of cooking
For the crispiest fries, air fry in a single layer
They're fine air fried in multiple layers, but might not turn out as crispy
Allow the full 20 minutes to ensure ultimate crispiness. They might be done on the inside before, but they still need that extra time to crisp up really well.
Storing: Store leftovers in the fridge in an air tight container for up to 4 days.
Freezing: I don't recommend freezing leftovers.
Reheating: Reheat leftovers in the air fryer for 2-3 minutes, or microwave in 30 second increments. You can also use leftovers to make a Leftover French Fry Casserole.
Why are my fries not crispy? If your steak fries are not crispy, the most common reason is that you did not air fry them long enough. Make sure they are really golden before removing them from the air fryer, even if they're done on the inside before that.It can also be due to the type of potato you used. Starchy potatoes give the crispiest fries, as compared to waxy potatoes. Finally, if you overcrowd your air fryer basket or just cook them in multiple layers, this will make them less crispy.
