12 Secret Menu Items Fast Food Workers Always Order

By Emmeline Kemperyd on November 16, 2024, updated November 12, 2024 - Leave a Comment

If you've ever worked at a fast food joint and had multiple meals there every day, you know that the regular menu gets very boring, very fast. No matter how much you love McDonald's cheeseburgers or Subway sandwiches, when that's what's on offer for every meal, you quickly start exploring alternative options. Alternative options in this case often means taking whatever ingredients are available and creating something new and fun instead of the regular menu items. In this collection fast food workers share the creations they love - and they sound so good, I hope some of them show up on the official menus soon!

    Keto Pizza

A Domino’s employee shared their special keto creation: “We once made a keto pizza for a customer. Just threw the meats and cheeses for a meat lover's pizza into a greased pasta pan and ran it through the oven. That looked incredible and I wish I had made one for myself.”

Mmm if that's what a keto diet is then I am all in!

    Raspberry Mountain Dew

“Worked at Culver's for a year. I’d fill a soda cup 95% Mountain Dew and the rest with raspberry juice from the sundae bar” shared an experimental fast food worker. Oh, that does sound tasty, and I'm always up for a new flavor of soda!

    Subway Stuffed Peppers

One person shared: “Worked at Subway in high school and my favorite was stuffed peppers. I'd cut the top off and gut the pepper, fill it with cheese, steak, and chipotle sauce, and then bake it in the oven. Soooooo good.”

I promise if they put this on the menu, even I will start going to Subway!

    Cinnamon Donut Bites

A former Pizza Hut employee shared: “Take overproofed, unusable dough, rip it up, deep fry for a couple of minutes, cover in cinnamon sugar. Boom. Donut bites.” This sounds simply delicious! But who knew Pizza Hut even had a deep-fat fryer?!

    Fried Biscuits

A KFC worker shared: “Worked at KFC and the biscuits come frozen. We would put them in the fryer instead of the oven, and they were the most delicious, dense buttermilk donuts. Drizzle on some honey, and they are awesome!”

Now this should go on the menu at KFC, or any fast food chain that has biscuits! I'll be there in a second.

    Strawberry-Flavored Frosty

A former chef commented: “I used to work at Wendy’s. We poured this special strawberry flavoring that was supposed to be used for a fruity drink into a vanilla frosty. Stirred it up, it tasted amazing.” Simple, quick, and delicious!

    Extra Crispy Wings

One cook added to the thread: “Not exactly unique but I left a tray of wings in the oven for too long, not burnt but clearly overcooked. Made up a "new trial product" for extra crispy styled wings. Went great untill someone came back the next day and asked my manager if we had more extra crispy wings in stock.” [sic]

Busted! But maybe the manager should have taken that hint, and just put it on the menu instead. I know I would order it!

    Taco Bell Secret Menu

A former Taco Bell worker shared the secret menu that they created for themselves and their regulars. It included items like the Ninja Turtle (Baja Blast mixed with regular Mountain Dew), the Mastodon (Chalupa shell with hard shell instead, coated in nacho cheese), and the Churro Special (an apple pie and two churros grilled together like a dessert burrito).

Now I need to go by Taco Bell and see if ordering this will get me anything good!

    Potato Balls

A KFC cook shared his creation: “Used to work at KFC, took a scoop of potato and made balls out of them, breaded in the crispy flour/batter and cooked them through on a crispy strip cycle before pouring a little gravy over the top and eating them. like big potato gems/ tater tots/potato meatballs -> depending on where you’re from.” [sic]

Rumor has it you can actually get these on the menu in Australia. Can someone confirm before we book our flight?!

    McDonald’s Take on Grilled Cheese

One person shared: “I used to work at McDonalds. One of the things people would order was grilled cheese sandwiches. Basically a slice of cheese between two upside-down buns that was put on the grill for a bit.” Already thinking of names for this – the McCheese, the McGrilly Cheese, or, wait for it, the Just Cheese Mac.

    Mac and Cheese Bread Bowl

A Domino’s delivery driver shared: “I take a small pizza dough, some Alfredo sauce, a whole bunch of cheddar cheese, some pasta, and some bacon. Mix those together and put them on the small dough. Raise the edges of the dough up like a bowl and run it through the pizza oven. When it’s done top it off with garlic oil and just a little mango habanero sauce, and you have one of the best Mac and cheese bread bowls I’ve ever eaten.”

One word: WOW! Can I order one to be delivered, please?!

    A New Parmesan Chicken

One person commented: “Used to work in a concession stand at a movie theater. One of my coworkers would make chicken tenders and mozzarella sticks, stick them in a hot dog bun and slather it in marinara to make a chicken parm sandwich.”

Now that's something I just have to try at home!
