Whether it’s a holiday, your birthday, or just a nice sunny weekend, waking up to a special breakfast has got to be one of the best feelings in the world. So let’s hear which extraordinary breakfast meals the internet foodies prefer, and maybe try one or two this week!
Eggs Benedict
One foodie commented, “I personally love eggs benny and maybe a nice brioche.” It’s hearty, tasty, and, most of all, fancy. Eggs Benedict is definitely a restaurant-style breakfast worthy of any celebration!
Dutch Baby
Another foodie suggested a Dutch baby as the special breakfast item. Dutch babies (also called German pancake or Bismarck) are large pancakes that are baked instead of fried. That said, waking up to hear a loved one say, ‘Hey, I made you Dutch babies’ sounds like it could be a bit traumatizing.
Almond French Toast
“Almond French toast. Get some nice bread- maybe a brioche. Make a French toast batter. Dip the battered toast into a mixture of crushed almonds. Griddle it up. We love it for special occasions,” shared a foodie. Someone give this person a million dollars for this amazing idea.
Pho
A foodie said they prefer Pho, the Vietnamese soup dish, as their special occasion breakfast, especially for birthdays. It might be an extraordinary breakfast dish here, but very common in Vietnam! And I for one am all for it.
Japanese Fluffy Pancakes
A foodie commented, “Japanese fluffy pancakes! I'd do it with a fruit compote and something savory.” A word of warning – these are not the easiest to make and, like most Japanese dishes, require practice. With that being said, good luck! And make sure to start practicing in time...
Breakfast Skillet
One foodie shared their go-to special breakfast regime, “I also love a breakfast skillet. Cook some bacon in a cast iron, pull the bacon out and fry some cubes potatoes in the pan with some onions. Then add the bacon back in and make a few holes in the potatoes and crack an egg into each hole. Finish off in the oven. Optional top with hollandaise sauce.”
Croque Monsieur
“Croque monsieur! Impressive, comforting and deeeelicious!” commented one foodie. Before you go ahead and make it, learn the right pronunciation. For the love of God, it’s not a crock monster!
Brioche Bread French Toast with Cream Cheese and Prosciutto
A foodie shared what can only be described as a royal breakfast, “Make cinnamon roll brioche bread. Make thick French toast out of that with a cream cheese maple syrup. Make prosciutto bacon between two sheet pans to serve with it.” One word: wow!
Biscuits and Gravy
One foodie recommends biscuits with gravy for breakfast. While I haven't tried this specific dish for breakfast, I do love a savory, filling breakfast and if you have leftovers this might just be it!
Menemen (Turkish Scrambled Eggs)
“I'm a turk so breakfast on the weekends is a huge thing for us. So menemen is a thing. baked potatoes or fries, Fried peppers with yogurt sauce and tomatoes. Egg Salad, normal salad. Things like cheese, olives and jams and bread and of course çay which is tea. After that we drink our Turkish coffee,” shared one foodie. That breakfast makes us want to visit Istanbul right away!
English Breakfast
One foodie shared their favorite special breakfast and who they want it served by, “Full English breakfast in bed served by my better half!” Serving breakfast in bed is the language of love, after all.
Breakfast Tacos
A foodie crowned breakfast tacos as their favorite birthday breakfast. They’re super easy to make with bacon, eggs, and avocados. Like Taco Tuesdays, there should be a day for Breakfast Tacos, called Taco Mornings. Are you listening, Taco Bell?
