Manly Desserts: What Google Says Men Really Want After Dinner

By Emmeline Kemperyd on May 13, 2024, updated May 10, 2024 - Leave a Comment

In a world loaded with stereotypes and built-in bias, not even food or algorithms can escape. One food that is sometimes considered to be "feminine" is everyone's favorite food group: dessert. So we thought, what if, just for fun, we ask Google to give us some real MANLY desserts? Well, the results might surprise you... or not. Be warned, some of these are downright bizarre, but I guess they are all quite stereotypically "manly" at least!

    Cigar Cookies

According to Google, a man is only allowed to enjoy cookies if they’re shaped into super manly things, like cigars. Well, the joke's on Google. My experience is men will devour cookies in whatever shape they’re in, as long as there are no raisins in them!

    Anything Peanut Butter!

Pretty much any dessert with peanut butter is just manly enough, because it’s protein bro! A quick search for ‘manly desserts’ gives you plenty of recipes with this protein-rich ingredient, like Peanut Butter Swirl Chocolate Chip Blondies. Which does sound delicious, don't get me wrong!

    Rum Cake

Of course, for a dessert to be masculine enough, it has to be doused in some kind of alcohol. And rum cake is exactly that, so men can have cake without feeling emasculated. Thank you, Google!

    Banana Pudding Cheesecake

What’s better than one dessert? Two desserts in one, of course! Or at least that’s what the search engine thinks men want for dessert. So, how about combining banana pudding with cheesecake? However, we are a bit confused about whether banana pudding makes cheesecake masculine - or if it’s the other way around.

    Bourbon Pecan Pie

Pecan pies are delicious, and everyone loves them, including men. But adding Bourbon definitely makes it a more "manly" dessert, or so a quick Google search suggests.

    Rocky Road Brownies

So, what is it about rocky road desserts that make them manly, Google? Is it the marshmallows? Is it chocolate? Or is it because the name sounds rough and rugged? Only Google knows!

    Potato Chip Cookies

Guys sure do love their potato chips! It's often their go-to snack for doing super manly things, like watching a football game. (However, it's also my go-to snack for watching SATC. So...)

Anyway, just add some of those potato chips to cookies, and voila, you have a masculine dessert. Sarcasm aside, combining sweet with salty is usually a really good idea - so I can see how this recipe is delicious!

    Beeramisu

Another dessert machofied with alcohol: Beeramisu. He’s Tiramisu’s drunk, fight-picking, flannel-wearing cousin.

    Bacon Puff Twists

Here’s another bacon-based dessert that’s supposedly “manly” enough for men to enjoy. The takeaway? If it isn’t meaty, it isn’t manly!

    Peach Fritters

Some men prefer peaches, so it’s only befitting that these men get to enjoy desserts made with the fruit, like peach fritters. Again, so many assumptions on the search engine’s part! Are peaches extra manly? Or fritters? Only Google can tell.

    Chocolate-Covered Bacon

For men who like bacon and crave something sweet, how about chocolate-covered bacon? This is one dessert that I do believe can be considered manly for real — not because "all men love bacon" (all non-vegetarian women I know do, too) but because of the nuances of sweet and salty. There's more to men than meets the eye!

    Fried Chicken Cookies

And last, but definitely not least, it’s fried chicken cookies. KFC has missed a trick here. Cookies that look like fried drumsticks in a bucket of KFC? Yep, that’ll do it for any manly man for sure!
