While we all love to eat, not everyone's taste is equal. And while there sure are big differences on individual level - I do think there are some things that set men and women apart as well. Now this is of course a generalization, but I'll be surprised if you don't agree with at least a few of these! From spicy dishes to sweet treats, discover the foods that tend to spark differences in taste between the genders.
Sushi

Women absolutely love sushi. If there’s an all-you-can-eat sushi buffet, you’ll see more women than men. Probably because it’s an acquired taste, and many men have acquired the taste of actually COOKED food.
All Things Chocolate

From chocolate barks to chocolate-covered strawberries, women love chocolate more than men. While some studies suggest that hormones may be at play when women crave chocolate, many men don’t understand the passion for cocoa. The only way to explain it is by pointing out that chocolate holds a special place in women’s hearts in the same way that football does for men!
Salads As Meals

You’ve probably seen it in TV shows and movies, where the actress places her order, “I’ll just take the salad.” For men, salad is a side dish and not a meal that can fill us up. That’s not the case with women who often choose salads as a "complete" lunch (and sometimes dinner, too!). And I know, I know - not all women! I'm one of those women who could never just have a salad for lunch - but I have enough friends who do to still believe there is some truth to this.
Sweet Treats

There are quite a few stereotypes about women’s food preferences, and, for one, men often consider fancy, sweet desserts, like cupcakes, feminine. A quick search for manly desserts fetches results like cheeseburger cake, cigar cookies, and booze-infused pancakes. Yuck! Let me just say it: women know how to enjoy sweet treats and how to make the most mouth-watering ones. Maybe men just don’t have the right sweet tooth to appreciate them...
Starbucks Coffee

Women customize their Starbucks coffee orders so much: one pump of this, another pump of that, extra whipping cream, and all that jazz. Plus, don’t get me started on the pumpkin spiced latte, iced matcha latte, and all these other fancy flavors. Men tend to be more straightforward with their coffee. They'll get an espresso or americano and call it a day.
Spicy Food

Being able to ‘handle your spice’ has long been seen as a manly trait. But funnily enough, on Hot Ones, the popular YouTube talk show that tests the spice tolerance of celebrities, some women celebrities handled the spice quite well. While some men can certainly handle their spice, women are weirdly better at it!
I'm not surprised, we're used to pain - so a little bit of spice is nothing.
Citrus Fruits

Not everyone likes sour, citrusy fruits. However, women, especially during pregnancy, may crave that sourness. A user shared her experience of pregnancy cravings on an online forum, “Citrus fruits and citrus flavored food. I ate way too much key lime pie, iced lemon loaf from Starbucks, and sour patch kids. I even cut a lemon and licked it for a good 10 minutes. It was embarrassing but I couldn’t get enough.”
I'm one of those women who love citrus an insane amount, but in my particular case, it's probably more genetics than gender, as I get it from my dad.
Moringa

The green powder Moringa tastes bitter and harsh. Yet, so many women routinely add it to their teas and smoothies. Men, on the other hand, often don’t enjoy the taste of it in their shakes and smoothies. Perhaps women don’t mind the bitterness for the sake of health benefits?
Kale

Leafy greens like kale are good for you, but come on, it’s not the same as a juicy hamburger. But many women enjoy kale, even when thrown into a dull salad. Most men will probably run away from these dark green leaves, even if it comes with a side of creamy mashed potatoes. And that’s not the only weird vegetable that women like...
Pickles

Men do love their pickles, but as part of a meal, like a sandwich, burger, or tacos. Women, on the other hand, can fetch it out of the jar and eat it like chips. They’ll even slurp on the pickle juice!
Coconut Water

Women buy packaged coconut water from stores and will sip it at the beach fresh out of its pod. Men aren’t that crazy about it. They’d rather eat the coconut or, even better, have a beer.
Diet Soda

Maybe it’s to avoid extra calories. Or they just love the taste of it. Women do seem to enjoy diet sodas noticeably more than men. On the other hand, men will either avoid soda or go all the way with the regular one with sugar and calories. It tastes better, anyway, and I am 100% on team MAN for this one.
Read This Next: 12 Restaurant Chains That Don’t Live up to the Hype

There are restaurant chains, and then there are... hyped-up restaurant chains. While we've all tried KFC and McDonald's, we also know that they're not all that. Fast food, yes. Great food? Definitely not. But other chains have a reputation as being better, be it due to a cozier dining experience or better food. And some, like Shake Shack, do live up to that "hype", at least if you ask me. Others, not so much.
