I love the unexpected, especially flavor-wise. And this Martini Mocktail sure is unexpected! Earthy, sour & citrusy with just the right amount of sweetness, and then - a hint of salt.

True to its dirty martini roots, this Martini Mocktail is a delicious non-alcoholic version that's 100% grown-up proof - while being entirely alcohol-free.

Why you will love this recipe

    • Super easy to make
    • 2 minutes is all it takes
    • Halloween appropriate with its black color
    • Grown-up & delicious with an earthy flavor and a distinct salty bite thanks to the olive juice

What you need to make a Martini Mocktail

ingredients needed to make a black widow martini.

    Ingredient notes & substitutions

    • Black olive brine can be swapped for green olive brine
    • Lemon juice needs to be fresh, the bottle kind won't provide enough of a citrus profile
    • Liquid food coloring works best for this recipe, but if it's all you have you can manage with gel versions as well. Just shake a bit extra! You can also skip it entirely.

    How to make it

how to make a black widow martini mocktail.
    1. Place all ingredients in a cocktail shaker
    2. Close the lid tightly and shake well
    3. Pour in a martini glass
    4. Garnish with a tooth pick with a couple of black olives

    Tips & tricks

    • Use a cocktail shaker to really mix up the color with the rest of the ingredients
    • If you don't have a cocktail shaker you can place all ingredients in a tall glass and mix well with a spoon instead
    • Shake with an ice cube to make sure your martini gets served ice cold
    • Prep ahead by mixing all the ingredients for the martini mocktail beforehand, and then shake with ice just before serving
    • Skip the food coloring for an equally delicious Martini Mocktail that's delicious year-round

I’ve always wanted a cocktail that made use of the delicious brine from a can of black olives and this is it! I left the food coloring out and it has beautiful beet red color that I think works just as well for a black widow mocktail. Next time I’ll try it with a little vodka, but it’s just as satisfying as real cocktail as is.

This cocktail is so fun and festive! When I make it I think I'll be adding that shot of vodka as well 🙂
