What To Do With Leftovers
These sausages are best eaten straight after cooking, but you can also save leftovers for later.- Storing: Store leftovers in the fridge in an air tight container for up to 4 days.
- Freezing: Freeze leftovers for up to 3 months.
- Reheating in the air fryer: Slice 1 inch thick and air fry 1-2 minutes at 400℉ (200℃), or reheatwhole 3-5 minutes at 360℉ (180℃).
- Reheating stove top: Slice 1 inch thick and cook in butter or oil until heated through.
- Make a hash: Leftover sausage is best made into a hash, especially if you also have leftover potatoes. Cut sausage and potatoes into pieces and cook stove-top until heated through. If using raw potatoes, cook them until done before adding the sausage. You can also add other ingredients such as onions or bell peppers for extra flavor.

Expert Tips
- If you have frozen sausages, you don't need to thaw them. You can cook them straight from frozen following this recipe for Air Fryer Frozen Sausage.
- Cook in a single layer and don't overcrowd the air fryer basket. Make sure there is still some room for the air to circulate around the sausages.
- To avoid excessive smoking, add a little water to the air fryer basket. This helps dilute the fat that will drip off the sausages and can otherwise burn at the bottom and cause smoke.
- Use a meat thermometer to make sure the sausages are done. The internal temperature should reach 160℉ (71℃).
Frequently Asked Questions
To keep sausages from bursting in your air fryer you can prick them first with a fork or tooth pick. I didn't do it for this recipe, because I usually don't have trouble with them bursting.
