There's no flavor I love more than that of buffalo sauce. And while I love buffalo cauliflower, buffalo chicken dip and buffalo chicken pasta, sometimes I'm too lazy. I don't need the chicken wings, I just really need the sauce!
And while I love straight-up buffalo wing sauce, it's a tad too spicy for me to enjoy on its own, or as a dipping sauce. So instead, I came up with this brilliant solution...
I now make this buffalo dipping sauce (or buffalo ranch) at least once a week, and I use it for everything from dipping fries to drizzling on steak, and I even add it to my BLTs!
If you're a buffalo lover like me, I'm sure this dip is going to be your new favorite recipe.
Why you will love this recipe
- It's quick and all done in just 2 minutes
- It's easy - just mix and serve!
- 2 ingredients is all you need
- Perfect buffalo flavor with a nice spicy kick and delicious tanginess
- The easiest way to get your buffalo fix any night of the week
What you need to make it
Ingredient notes & substitutions
- Hot sauce: I like to use Frank's Red Hot sauce, Cholula, or Louisiana Hot Sauce. Other types work as well, but the level of spiciness can vary.
- Mayonnaise: Store-bought is fine, but you can also make it from scratch. I like Hellmann's for a store-bought version.
How to make it
- Place mayonnaise and hot sauce in a bowl
- Mix well, and you are done!
Tips & tricks
- Adjust the amount of hot sauce depending on which hot sauce you're using and how spicy you like it
- Taste test and add a little hot sauce at a time to ensure it doesn't get too spicy
- For the deepest flavor, refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. You can also eat it straight away.
Storing, Freezing & Making Ahead
Storing: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
Freezing: I don't recommend freezing leftovers.
Make Ahead: You can make this sauce up to 1-2 days in advance. It's even better when it's been sitting for a day or so!

- For the deepest flavor, refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. You can also eat it straight away.

- Some hot sauces are spicier than others
- Generally, 2 tablespoons hot sauce for 1 cup of mayonnaise makes it a bit spicy, but not super spicy
- If you'd prefer it less spicy, add just 1 tablespoon hot sauce for 1 cup of mayonnaise
- Taste as you go! Add a little bit of hot sauce, mix, taste test, and add more if needed. If it's too spicy, add a bit more mayonnaise instead.
