Recipe FAQ
Chipotle ranch can be made in many different ways but is basically a ranch dressing with chipotle flavoring mixed in.
You can make it from scratch or using a regular ranch dressing, and you can use chipotle paste, chipotle peppers in adobo sauce or chipotle powder.
Chipotle ranch is usually a bit spicy, but it depends on how much chipotle you add - and if you add any other spicy spices such as cayenne pepper.
This version is a litte bit spicy, but not very. However, if you're sensitive to spice I suggest starting out with half of the stated amount of chipotle paste.
The contents of chipotle paste can vary depending on the brand. I use Santa Maria Chipotle Paste which is made from 34% chipotle chili and also has onion, tomato puré, vinegar, garlic, salt and other spices.
You can usually find one or the other - or both - at your supermarket. Look in the Mexican aisle!
How to serve it
Just like its more traditional cousin Ranch Dressing this Chipotle Ranch is great for so many things. Here are just some of my favorite ways to have it:
- As a salad dressing
- In a sandwich
- As a sauce for steak
- With chicken
- To dip tortilla chips or raw veggies
- As a sauce for cooked veggies
- With french fries
- On top of burgers
- Drizzled over tacos
And what's good with one sauce - is even better with two! Pair this sauce with a Garlic Parmesan Sauce for ultimate dipping.
