    4 Ingredients & 5-Minute Prep - Now That’s Easy!

Ravioli has always been one of my go-to's for quick and easy dinners. It's so easy to grab at the store on your way home, it cooks up quickly, and you can get away with making the simplest of sauces or just serving it with some butter and cheese. Or, grab a jar of sauce at the store as well, and call it a night!

How to make it even easier, and better? Turn it into a decadently cheesy casserole.

This dish is so easy to make (4 ingredients! 5 minute prep! One dish!), and it tastes amazing - you won't be able to stop yourself from grabbing seconds. It also stores really well and you will be happy to have leftovers to enjoy for lunch tomorrow.

There are also loads of ways you can vary it - use a different type of ravioli, a different sauce, another cheese... the possibilities are endless, so I'm pretty sure this will become a regular dish in your dinner rotation!

And for something similar yet quite differnt in flavor? Try this Gorgonzola Tortellini Casserole.

    You Only Need 4 Ingredients

    Ingredients for ravioli bake.

    Use Your Favorite Ravioli...

You can use any ravioli you like. I used a cheese-filled version for a super cheesy dish, but it would also taste amazing with pesto-filled ravioli, or mushroom, or ham and cheese... anything you like!

I always use refrigerated ravioli but this recipe works just as well with frozen. If using frozen, you will need to thaw it first. Either let it thaw slowly in the refrigerator, or just give it a quick dip in boiling water before adding to the casserole dish.

... and Your Favorite Tomato Sauce!

You can use store-bought (easy!!) tomato sauce, or make your own. It's entirely up to you! Either go for a classic garlic & herb version or spice it up with an arrabbiata sauce. Both are amazing!

    Then Add Lots of Cheese

I used parmesan cheese for flavor and mozzarella cheese mostly for texture. Fresh mozzarella cheese is always delicious, but you can swap it for shredded as well (just make sure it's 100% cheese!). Both cheeses can also be swapped for other options - or just use one of them.

For the tastiest result, I do recommend a mix of a well-flavored cheese (like parmesan) and a good melting cheese (like mozzarella).

How to Make It in 3 Simple Steps

    1. Ravioli

Start by greasing your casserole dish with oil or butter, then add half the ravioli in a layer at the bottom. It's fine if the ravioli overlap, just try to spread them out as much as possible. If they are stuck together, gently separate them.

    2. Layer

Pour over half the sauce and top with half of both the cheeses. Then add another layer just like that: ravioli, sauce and cheese.

    Ravioli bake before baking.

    3. Bake

Bake for 30 minutes until the cheese is golden brown and melted and the casserole is heated throughout. If it starts to brown too much, tent with aluminum foil.

What to with Leftovers & How to Prep Ahead

Leftovers: Leftovers are delicious! Store them in the fridge or freezer and reheat before eating.

Storing: Store leftovers in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 4 days.

Freezing: Store leftovers in the freezer in an airtight container for up to 3 months.

Reheating the whole casserole: Tent with foil and heat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 15-20 minutes, until hot throughout.

Reheating individual servings: Reheat in the microwave in 1 minute increments.

Prep ahead: Layer everything up to 24 hours in advance, then bake at your convenience. Either bring it to room temperature first or add 5-10 minutes to the baking time.

We love this recipe! We followed your recipe except we used thawed tortellini. Let's just say that it was gone by the next dinner. I'm making this again tonight, and I can't wait until dinner.
I'm presume it will freeze well. Once we get our new freezer, I'll make then freeze one. Do you recommend freezing it before or after I've cooked it? THANKS!

Hi Jill! Oh I'm so happy to hear that! I love it too! I'd recommend freezing it before cooking, if you're making a whole casserole to freeze. But it does freeze well after being cooked as well. /Emmeline
