Why you will love this recipe

    • It's quick - done in 3 minutes
    • It's easy - just blend, shake, pour - and serve!
    • It's delicious - mint and watermelon is such a great flavor combo, and the lime just lightens everything up

What you need to make it

ingredients needed to make a watermelon no-tini

Apart from the necessities shown above, it's good if you also have a high-powered blender, food processor or handheld immersion blender. But if you have neither - don't worry, I'll give you a tip below.

    Ingredient notes & substitutions

    • Watermelon can be sweet and delicious and full of flavor, or watery and boring - all depending on how ripe it is. Make sure to get a nice, ripe one for this recipe since it's the star of the show!
    • Fresh lime really is needed for this recipe, save the bottled one for another time.
    • Fresh mint leaves can be substituted for fresh basil leaves

    How to make it

collage showing how to make a watermelon no-tini
    1. Place your watermelon pieces and mint leaves in the shaker, and squeeze over the lime juice.
    2. Pour it all in the blender and mix for about 2 minutes, until there are no solid pieces left. Then pour it all back into the shaker.
    3. Add in two ice cubes.
    4. Screw on the lid tightly on the shaker, and shake it all for about 15 seconds.
    5. Unscrew the top lid only from your shaker, to access the built-in strainer.
    6. Then pour your watermelon mocktail in a martini glass, and garnish with a sprig of fresh mint and some watermelon cubes on a cocktail stick. Serve immediately!

    Tips & tricks

    • If you don't have a high-powered blender, you can also use a food processor or handheld immersion blender. Anything that crushes up that watermelon and mint!
    • If you don't have any type of mixer, you can also scoop the flesh of the watermelon into a strainer over a bowl, and then use a fork or spoon to mash the watermelon so that the juice trickles down into the bowl. Then pour this juice into the shaker with your mint and lime instead.
    • If you don't have a shaker you can add your ice cubes to the blender after blending, stir it with a spoon to allow the ice to cool down the drink, and then pour over a strainer into your martini glass
    • Want to add some alcohol? I recommend either vodka or light rum, added before shaking with ice.

    FAQ

Can I make this into a frozen watermelon mocktail?

Yes! Just add a few ice cubes to the blender after you've mixed together the watermelon, mint and lime and mix until crushed. Then skip the shaking step and pour straight into your glass.

    Can I freeze it?

Yes! Freeze it as ice cubes and you can then either let them thaw before serving, or mix them up frozen to make a frozen watermelon mocktail.

Can I make this for a crowd?

Yes! Just choose the number of mocktails you would like to make in the recipe card below, and the ingredients will adjust accordingly. Note that depending on how many you wish to make, you might need to shake and/or blend in batches.
