What You Need To Make Them
Ingredient Notes & substitutions
- Frozen French fries: The general recipe works for all kinds of fries: thin cut, crinkle cut, curly fries, waffle fries, shoestring fries, steak fries and sweet potato fries. Cook time will depend on how thick they are.
- Olive oil can be swapped for a different type of cooking oil or a few spritzes of cooking spray. You can also skip it, but it helps give the fries a really nice crisp, and some nice color.
- Salt: skip if your fries are already seasoned.
How To Make Them
- Place fries in a bowl
- Coat with olive oil & salt
- Spread out in air fryer basket
- Air fry until crispy and golden, shaking once halfway
Expert Tips
- Preheat your air fryer for the quickest and most even cook.
- Don't defrost the fries; cook them straight from frozen.
- Salt the fries before cooking to help it stick.
- For the crispiest fries, cook them in a single layer - if needed, cook them in batches
- You can layer the fries if needed, but they won't come out as crispy and will need a bit more time to cook. Never fill the basket more than halfway!
- Add additional seasonings if you like. I recommend trying Elote seasoning, Ranch seasoning, cajun seasoning or anything else you enjoy.
Storing, Freezing & Reheating
Leftovers: Use leftover fries to make a leftover french fries casserole.
Storing: Store leftovers in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 4 days - but remember that they are at their best just after frying
Freezing: I don't recommend freezing leftovers.
Reheating: Reheat fries in the air fryer for 5 minutes at 300°F (150°C).
