What you need to make them
Ingredient notes
- Frozen waffle fries - I use a kind that already has seasoning
- Oil can be skipped, but helps give the waffle fries that nice golden brown color. Use olive oil or canola or another neutral oil!
- Salt can be added, especially if you don't use pre-seasoned waffle fries. ¼ teaspoon is perfect for 2 servings.
How to make them
- Preheat your air fryer to 390°F (200°C) and pour the oil over the waffle fries. Mix them a bit so they get evenly coated.
- Place the waffle fries in the preheated basket and air fry for 12 minutes at 390°F (200°C), shaking the basket once halfway
- When done, the waffle fries should be golden and a bit crispy
Tips & tricks
- Preheat the air fryer for best results
- Don't defrost the waffle fries, cook them straight from frozen
- Don't overcrowd your air fryer basket - it's fine to have more than one layer, but make sure there is still some room for the hot air to circulate.
- For really crispy air fryer waffle fries, cook them in a single layer
- Shake the waffle fries around halfway for an even cook
- Cooking time can vary with different air fryers and brands of fries - just use more or less time as needed. If you're unsure of the timing, start with 10 minutes and work your way up.
- Store any leftover waffle fries in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 4 days - but I recommend not air frying more than you will finish
