Frozen fish sticks are a staple in my house. Two of my favorite dishes (yes, I'm serious) use them: fish and chips, and fish and chips with boiled potatoes. No I know, you're not really supposed to use fish sticks for fish and chips, but it is just SO EASY so I do it anyway.
Fried fish is fried fish is fried fish, as we say here at always use butter.

What you need to make them
Ingredient notes
- Frozen fish sticks (or fish fingers) - that's all you need. This recipe was created with the regular, thin, kind shown here. If making thicker fish sticks you will need to adjust the cooking time.
How to make them
- Preheat your air fryer to 390°F (200°C), then place the fish sticks in the preheated air fryer basket
- Air fry for 4 minutes at 390°F (200°C), then turn and air fry for 4 more minutes
- Check to see if they are done and as crispy as you like them. If not, add a few more minutes. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce!
Tips & tricks
- Preheat the air fryer for best results
- Don't defrost the fish sticks, cook them straight from frozen
- Cook in a single layer - if you're making more fish sticks than fit comfortably in one layer in your air fryer basket, cook them in batches
- Cook time can vary with different air fryers
- Adjust cook time depending on your air fryer and how crispy you like them - my air fryer gets them crispy in 8 minutes, you might need more or less
- Serve immediately before the crisp is gone
- Make just as many as you will finish - leftover fish sticks are not a hit
