Frozen pork chops are great to have in the freezer ready to go for a quick dinner. An air fryer makes it easy to cook air fryer pork chops perfectly, straight from frozen - they come out so good, this will become one of your new favorite ways of cooking them!
Why you will love this recipe
- It's the best way to cook frozen pork chops
- Quicker than cooking them in the oven
- No need to thaw - cook straight from frozen
- Healthier - since we require just a tiny bit of oil
- Super easy and done in 12 minutes + 5 minutes of preheating
What you need to make them
Ingredient notes & substitutions
- Olive oil can be swapped for another type of cooking oil, or just a light spritz of cooking spray or spray oil
- Seasonings can be adjusted to suit your taste - I love a simple salt and pepper seasoning to complement the pork chops' natural flavor, but you can mix it up with all kinds of different spices
- A delicious seasoning option is to make a dry rub from paprika powder, onion powder, garlic powder and a touch of cayenne. Optional to also add a bit of brown sugar for nice caramellization!
What kind of pork chops can I use?
You can make this recipe with thick or thin, bone-in or boneless pork chops. I used bone-in pork chops that were about ¾ inches (2 cm) thick.
- If you use thicker pork chops, they will take a bit longer to cook
- If you use boneless pork chops they will cook a bit quicker
A meat thermometer makes it easy to cook the pork chops to just the right temperature, regardless of their size and if they are bone-in or not.
How to make them
- Place a frozen pork chop in your air fryer basket, without seasonings or oil
- Air fry 4 minutes to thaw
- Brush with oil
- Season with salt & pepper
- Flip and repeat on the other side
- Air fry 4 more minutes, then flip, and keep air frying in shorter intervals until almost cooked through
- Place on a sheet of aluminium foil
- Wrap up and allow to rest for at least 5 minutes
Tips & tricks
- Preheat the air fryer for best results
- Don't defrost the pork chops, cook them straight from frozen
- Don't overcrowd your air fryer basket - you can cook multiple pork chops at once, depending on the size of your air fryer, but make sure there is still some air left around them
- Don't season straight away - allow the pork chop to thaw first, to ensure the seasoning sticks
- Use a meat thermometer to make sure you get the temperature just right
- Adjust cook time depending on the size of the pork chops, how many you're cooking, and the size of your air fryer
- Cook time can vary with different air fryer models
- Store any leftovers in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 4 days
How to reheat pork chops in the air fryer
- Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C)
- Place leftover pork chops in the air fryer basket
- Cook 5 minutes, flipping them once halfway. Make sure they are warm all the way through, and serve!
How do I know if my pork chops are cooked all the way through?
The best way to know if your pork chops are cooked all the way through is to use a meat thermometer. This way you don't run the risk of over- or undercooking them.
Pork chops need to reach an internal temp of 149°F (65°C) to be safe to consume, but you should rest them from 145°F (63°C) to avoid overccoking.
If you don't have a meat thermometer you will instead need to cut into the pork chop to see if it is cooked through. It should be opaque and white or just slightly pink in the middle.
