Ingredient notes & substitutions
- Shredded cheese: Shredded cheese in a bag works fine, or shred your own. Use cheese that melts well, for example mozzarella cheese or "pizza mix". You can also add some Parmesan cheese for the last minute of cooking.
- Pizza sauce: Store bought pasta sauce or marinara sauce is fine, or make your own pizza sauce
- Pizza dough: Store bought is fine, or use homemade dough
- Chorizo or pepperoni can be substituted for another salami, or a nice ham. Or skip it, to make it vegetarian.
- Vegetable oil: Use a neutral kind, or olive oil for extra taste
How to make them

- Sprinkle a little bit of flour on a clean and dry surface and roll out the dough as thin as possible
- Spread out the pizza sauce on top, leaving about 1 inch (2.5 cm) on all sides without sauce
- Add ⅔ of the shredded cheese
- Top with slices of salami

- Roll it up carefully, but as tight as possible
- Cover with plastic film and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes
- Bring out the dough just before baking and remove the plastic
- Carefully cut into 16 pieces using a sharp knife

- Preheat the air fryer by running it for 5 minutes at 350°F (180°C), then brush the air fryer basket with oil
- Place pizza rolls in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving some room for the air to circulate. Air fry for 14 minutes at 350°F (180°C).
- Sprinkle with the rest of the cheese and air fry for 1 minute at 350°F (180°C)
- All done and your air fryer pizza rolls are ready to serve! Serve on their own, or with one or two sides.

Recipe FAQ
I recommend preheating your air fryer, as this shortens cook times, helps with timing and also helps ensure a nice cook on whatever you're making. Think of it as starting cooking in a cold pan or oven vs a preheated one - the preheated one is almost always the best choice.
Air fryer models vary though, so please check if preheating is recommended for your specific model.
