What you need to make them

ingredients for air fryer pizza rolls

    Ingredient notes & substitutions

    • Shredded cheese: Shredded cheese in a bag works fine, or shred your own. Use cheese that melts well, for example mozzarella cheese or "pizza mix". You can also add some Parmesan cheese for the last minute of cooking.
    • Pizza sauce: Store bought pasta sauce or marinara sauce is fine, or make your own pizza sauce
    • Pizza dough: Store bought is fine, or use homemade dough
    • Chorizo or pepperoni can be substituted for another salami, or a nice ham. Or skip it, to make it vegetarian.
    • Vegetable oil: Use a neutral kind, or olive oil for extra taste

    Tips & tricks

    • Level up your pizza rolls by making everything from scratch and using high quality cheese and salami
    • Try other fillings like ham, mushrooms, prosciutto or zucchini and make this recipe your own
    • Chill the roll before cutting for best results
    • Cook until golden brown and cover with aluminium foil if they start to get too much color
    • Cooking time will vary with your air fryer model - keep an eye on them for the last few minutes and cover if they're turning too dark
    • To check if they are done remove one pizza roll from the air fryer basket and check on the bottom. If the dough looks cooked, they're done. If not, give them some more time.
    • If they are not done and getting too much color, cover and give them some more time
    • Make them vegetarian by skipping the pepperoni or swapping it for mushrooms
    • Make them vegan by skipping the pepperoni and using plant based cheese
    • Make them gluten free by using a gluten free pizza dough

    Flavor variations

If pepperoni is not your thing, you can add your favorite pizza toppings instead. Here are some ideas to get you started:

    • Vegetarian: Just skip the pepperoni, or add mushrooms and/or black olives
    • Hawaiian: Ham & pineapple
    • BBQ Chicken: Shredded chicken and barbeque sauce

    Recipe FAQ

Should I preheat my air fryer?

I recommend preheating your air fryer, as this shortens cook times, helps with timing and also helps ensure a nice cook on whatever you're making. Think of it as starting cooking in a cold pan or oven vs a preheated one - the preheated one is almost always the best choice.

Air fryer models vary though, so please check if preheating is recommended for your specific model.

    How do I store leftovers?

Store leftovers in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 4 days.

Freeze leftovers to keep them for up to 3 months.

    How do I reheat leftovers?

Reheat refrigerated leftovers in the air fryer at 350°F (180°C) for 2 minutes. Cover with aluminium foil to avoid them burning.

Reheat refrigerated leftovers in the microwave in 1 minute increments.

Reheat frozen pizza rolls in the air fryer at 350°F (180°C) for 7 minutes. Cover with aluminium foil to avoid them burning. If they are not done after 7 minutes, add more time in 2 minute increments.
