How to Reheat Fried Chicken in the Air Fryer Without Drying It Out
There are three important steps to ensuring your chicken doesn't dry out.
First, add a little bit of oil. This does two things, it helps crisp out the outside, and adds a bit of moisture which helps the chicken stay juicy.
Second, don't overcrowd the air fryer basket. You want the hot air to be able to circulate, as this helps heat the chicken quicker.
Third, don't heat it too long. You want the internal temperature to reach 165°F (74°C), but not go much above it.
Expert Tips
- Add a little bit of oil to help the breading crisp up nicely again
- Reheat in a single layer and do not overcrowd your air fryer basket. You want that hot air to be able to circulate, to crisp it all up!
- Only reheat as much as you will finish - you don't want to reheat the chicken multiple times
- Always reheat leftovers to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C), for safe consumption
- Cook time will vary with your specific air fryer, and how big the pieces are. Start with 4 minutes, check if heated through, and add more time as needed.
- Want to add seasoning? Do it after the oil and before air frying.
